1/2" diameter steel rod rod
10" long rod
cold rolled steel rod (needs to be stronger than mild steel)
beveled edge at both ends of rod
steel washer-like spacer sleeved over rod and welded to rod at 4 1/4" from end of rod
spacer inner diameter is .505" (just enough diameter to fit easily over rod)
spacer wall thickness is .095"
spacer length is 1/4"
the weld that joins the spacer to the rod MUST be on the side of the spacer that faces the shorter end of the rod relative to the spacer position
