It's like a dock connector for iPod, circuit board with 1 male and 1 female connectors on each end, the male connector connects to the female via traces on the circuit board; the circuit board also has soldering points for USB, FireWire, Line-in, Line-out to connect the iPod with other devices. Please see the attached photo for reference, this is what we have now but we prefer male and female connectors in 2 rows (15 pins on each side) and put the circuit in the middle.
