Every business requires getting sales orders from market for survival. These orders should reach back office accurately and immediately so that it will help to serve the customer and get more business.

Orders can be taken from field by following methods

  1. Salesperson calls the back office operator and places the order.
  2. Salesperson collects all the order, reaches back office and delivers the order to operator.
  3. Salesperson sends the order by sms.
  4. Web based sales order entry and management system, accessible from cyber cafes.
  5. Salesperson uses a mobile phone software which helps him to put the order directly to server and back office operator can process it further.

Each method has few shortcomings as well as benefits.

Disadvantages

 

  1. Time consuming.

 

 

3. SMS based technology

 

Features:

 

  1. Orders are sent over sms.
  2. No need of back office operator to receive call from salesperson.
  3. Send order while in transit.

 

Advantages

 

  1. Eliminate back office operator.
  2. Time saving as orders can be sent immediately after customer visit.

 

Disadvantages:

 

  1. Extra cost of sms.

 

4. Web based sales entry system

 

Features

 

  1. Salesperson logs in the system from cyber cafe.
  2. Opens web based site and creates his sales order and submits it.

 

Advantages:

 

  1. Eliminates back office operator.
  2. Minimum errors due to miscommunication between operator and sales person.
  3. Time saving.

 

Disadvantages:

 

  1. Difficult to find cyber cafe.
  2. Difficulty in finding time while on field.


 5. Order entry from mobile software


Features

 

  1. Salesperson logs in the system from his mobile.
  2. Generates an order and send it over GPRS.

 

Advantages:

 

  1. Eliminates back office operator.
  2. Minimum errors due to miscommunication between operator and sales person.
  3. Time saving.

 

Disadvantages:

 

  1. Not yet discovered.
Certainly from above options you can make out the difference which method is more beneficial.
